Week In Review: 6/26/17

A quick recap in the happenings on Trial By Films over the past week…along with elsewhere in the film industry.

The Fate of the Furious8/10 – If you want to see the best spectacle in Hollywood, buy yourself a ticket to The Fate of the Furious; but don’t complain about a lack of plot.

Zootopia9/10 -Top to bottom, Zootopia is one of the most impressive films of all time to come from Walt Disney Animation Studios.  Story, character design, voice work, animation – everything is pitch perfect, and collectively makes Zootopia an instant Disney classic.

Power Rangers8/10 – Relying on its’ talented ensemble of young actors, Dean Israelite’s Power Rangers doesn’t break any new ground, but is still a very fun 2 hours.

How Should Body Changes For Roles Be Treated?: A look into some recent cases where actors made well-publicized changes to their bodies for upcoming roles and how it turned out for them.  A reflection on how these transformations should be weighed when reviewing films and actor performances.

New Trailers From This Week:

Breathe: With stars Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy (The Crown) attached, Andy Serkis’ directorial debut looks worth taking a chance on.

Good Time: From the Safdie brothers is this Cannes nominee starring Robert Pattinson. Pattinson has really turned his career around in recent years with a slew of arthouse films – this one looks like another interesting performance.

Ingrid Goes West:  I wonder how dark this ‘Single White Female’ comedy is going to get; might be worth taking a look when it hits home media.

The Greatest Showman:  Starring Hugh Jackman as P.T. Barnum, this is a musical coming out this winter.  Skip it.
